Warfare
Casus Belli
Players must have a valid Casus Belli to declare war, and the nature of the Casus Belli influences the diplomatic and strategic landscape of the conflict. Different types of Casus Belli exist, ranging from claiming territory due to a shared border to liberating oppressed civilizations or responding to perceived threats.
Occupation and War Score
The war score, is a numerical representation of how well an empire is faring in the conflict. Occupying planets, winning battles, and achieving war goals all contribute positively to the war score, while suffering losses or facing setbacks can have the opposite effect. The side with the highest war score has a more advantageous position during peace negotiations and is more likely to achieve their war goals.
War Exhaustion
War Exhaustion is a measure of the toll and strain that prolonged military conflicts place on an empire. As a war progresses, both sides accumulate war exhaustion, reflecting the weariness and fatigue of their populations, military, and infrastructure. Factors such as prolonged battles, heavy losses, and the occupation of planets contribute to war exhaustion. When war exhaustion reaches certain thresholds, negative consequences start to affect the involved empires, including diplomatic penalties, reduced fleet effectiveness, and potential internal stability issues. High war exhaustion may also influence an empire's willingness to continue the conflict, making them more open to peace negotiations.
Fleet Management
Fleets are the backbone of military power, representing the organized and formidable force of an interstellar empire in the vastness of space. These fleets consist of a variety of ship classes, each with specific roles such as corvettes for swift strikes, destroyers for anti-missile defense, cruisers for versatility, battleships for heavy firepower, and titans as capital ship powerhouses. Fleets are led by admirals, who gain experience and traits through engagements, influencing fleet effectiveness. Players can customize ship designs with various weapons, defenses, and utility modules, reflecting strategic preferences and technological advancements. Fleet management is needed for defensive and offensive purposes, as empires must safeguard their territories, explore the cosmos, and engage in warfare to achieve their goals. The composition, technology, and strategic deployment of fleets significantly impact an empire's military strength
Space Battles
As fleets encounter each other, they engage in tactical warfare, and the outcome is influenced by ship design, fleet composition, and the strategic decisions made by players. Battles involve a variety of ship classes, each with specific roles and capabilities, engaging in ranged combat and employing various weapons and defensive systems. Admirals, assigned to lead fleets, bring unique skills and traits that further impact the effectiveness of the fleet. The real-time nature of space battles adds an element of excitement and tension, as players must make quick decisions, adapt to changing circumstances, and anticipate the strengths and weaknesses of their opponents. The strategic management of fleets, combined with thoughtful ship design and technology research, is essential for success in space battles
Planetary Battles
Planetary battles are ground-based conflicts that occur when a fleet initiates an invasion of an enemy-held planet. When a fleet bombards a planet, it weakens the defending armies and prepares the ground for invasion. Ground armies, which are recruited and maintained by empires, then engage in combat to either conquer or repel the occupation. The outcome of planetary battles is influenced by factors such as the strength of the invading and defending armies, technology levels, and any planetary modifiers. Players can customize their ground armies with different unit types and technologies to gain an advantage in these conflicts. Successful planetary invasions are pivotal for expanding an empire's borders, seizing valuable resources, and achieving war goals.
